Southern Specialties: a staunch supporter of SEPC and Southern Exposure
“The Southern Exposure event brings together the top representatives from the best retail and foodservice companies in the nation,” Charlie Eagle, vice president of business development for Southern Specialties, a leading grower, importer and distributor of specialty produce, headquartered in Pompano Beach, FL, told The Produce News.
“Southern Specialties will be exhibiting at Booth No. 802, and we invite visitors to come by and see the entire array of value-added, foodservice and bulk products offered in our line.”

In addition to spears, the line also offers asparagus tips and asparagus tenders.
“Southern Selects” hand-trimmed French beans are popular year-round and add elegance to every table.
Expanding on its popular “Southern Selects’” hand-peeled Brussels sprouts, Southern Specialties is now offering hand-peeled purple Brussels sprouts, which add intrigue and a splash of color and excitement.
“’Southern Selects’ radicchio and Treviso make for colorful salads,” Eagle added. “Baby carrots, rainbow baby carrots, heirloom and baby heirloom tomatoes are all perfect to dress up dinner tables.”
Southern Specialties also offers blackberries from Guatemala and Mexico, blueberries from Chile and premium raspberries from Mexico, also under the “Southern Selects” label.
“At Southern Exposure, we’ll be emphasizing the value that we bring across the board to retail, foodservice operation and wholesale attendees,” said Eagle. “Joining me to greet visitors to the show will be Geno Valdes, vice president of sales and marketing, Susana Troop, senior account manager, and Rochelle Seaman, key account manager, foodservice.”
Eagle explained that Seaman joined Southern Specialties a couple of months ago. She was previously a marketing associate with a broadline foodservice company.
Southern Specialties has been a member of the Southeast Produce Council since its formation, and it has exhibited at every Southern Exposure event.
“SEPC is the best regional produce organization in the nation,” said Eagle. “And over the years it has grown tremendously. The scope of its philanthropic endeavors has increased, and the trade show has become a standard to which all regional councils can aspire.
“Southern Exposure organizers do an outstanding job at putting together an extracurricular package for the event so that all attendees can enjoy leisure and social time as well as valuable business time,” he added.
Southern Specialties controls all aspects of growing, importing, processing and distributing its always expanding menu of specialty fruits and vegetables from the best farms in the Americas. Its foundation resides in the quality of people and businesses that make up its culture and enterprise.”
