Nash Produce rolls out line of value-added conventional and organic sweet potato products
Nash Produce of Nashville, NC has made a name for itself as a major supplier of premium sweet potatoes over the last few years. Now the company is taking its game to the next level with the introduction of a full line of value-added sweet potato products under its own “Mr. Yam’s” label.
The new lineup will be on display at the Southeast Produce Council’s Southern Exposure trade show in Orlando, FL, Feb. 26-28 in Booth No. 416 and includes easy-carry bags with weights available from two-to-ten pounds, an organic version in that same packaging, individual microwaveable potatoes, and a new 1.5-pound steamer pack that is sure to be a hit with health-conscious consumers.
All four products in the line can be shipped in display-ready cases for retail use and have already made an impact since being introduced late last year.

The consistency of the volume is not centered around the holidays and sweet potatoes are really becoming a daily choice for consumers. It’s not just a Southern thing anymore — it’s a vivacious, fun vegetable.”
Part of that is due to the remarkable health benefits of sweet potatoes — and part is due to the fact that they are simply delicious.
“It’s a total package,” Hearn said. “People who were already sweet potato fans are learning how versatile they are — it doesn’t just have to be butter and brown sugar, sweet potatoes can mix with more savory flavors. You see it on every cooking show, they use sweet potatoes for anything, from a desert to pairings with meats, even in drinks — now they even have sweet potato liquor drinks.”
Nash has a network of farmers spread across a 120 mile radius covering thousands of acres throughout eastern North Carolina. Harvesting from such a large geographical area makes sure Nash can always provide top-quality product no matter what Mother Nature may dish out.
“As the demand continues to increase, a steady supplier is an invaluable resource and Nash Produce is always able to deliver,” said Hearn.
“With the ability to store over 2 million bushels of sweet potatoes in controlled atmosphere storage, we can store product for up to 18 months after harvest.”
