Christopher Ranch adds shallots to its extensive organic line
Christopher Ranch, headquartered in Gilroy, CA, has recently added organic shallots to its well-known line of garlic, onions and other specialty organic items.
Patsy Ross, vice president of marketing for the company said shallots are a close relative of both garlic and onions.
“Shallots are a staple in fine dining restaurants and in home cooks’ kitchens alike,” she noted. “They have a natural sweetness and when cooked they possess extraordinary thickening properties which are ideal for sauces. Christopher Ranch’s organic shallots are produced in the U.S., and the organic option is available year-round.”
Christopher Ranch’s new organic California-grown shallots.Christopher Ranch was founded over 50 years ago. The company introduced its organic garlic in 1997, and its organic line has grown consistently since then.
It grows, packs and distributes its extensive line of organic produce, which it produces in California, other West Coast states and other growing regions worldwide.
In addition to garlic and shallots, its organic lineup includes pearl onions, Cipolline onions, boiler onions, elephant garlic, fresh ginger and a wide range of jarred items. It also offers peeled organic garlic and peeled organic shallots for both the retail and foodservice sectors.
Christopher Ranch has a mix of customers that include retailers, foodservice operators and wholesalers. It has regional distribution across the United States and Canada to service our customers quickly and efficiently with both its conventional and organic lines.
“With five strategically placed distribution warehouses across the nation, we can insure timely deliveries to our customers,” said Ross. “Family owned and operated since 1956, three generations of Christopher’s are currently working at Christopher Ranch.”
The company is one of the nation’s largest domestic garlic grower, packer and shippers. The company’s over 50-year tradition is to supply the finest garlic products to its customers.
“Christopher Ranch’s organic program continues to grow, but the ability to get organic land to grow on is an ongoing challenge,” Ross pointed out. “On average we increase our acreage about 10 percent per year, but the demand for the organic program outweighs the ability to meet that demand.”
