LaGrasso Bros. celebrates 100th anniversary, welcomes new generation
LaGrasso Bros. Produce, a produce and food distributor located in Detroit, celebrated its 100th anniversary this past year with new restaurant openings and increased same store sales.
“The economy in Michigan has been gaining momentum in recent years and 2014 is a reflection of that continued growth,” said Thomas LaGrasso III, vice president of operations at LaGrasso Bros.
LaGrasso’s fourth generation family members, Joe LaGrasso, Tom LaGrasso III and Catherine LaGrasso, with third-generation family member Tom LaGrasso.Founded by Sicilian immigrants, the 110-employee company prides itself on delivering the freshest, high-quality products to its clients, including The Capital Grille, Fleming’s Steakhouse, J. Alexander’s, Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse, Mezzevino and The Cheesecake Factory.
“We deliver from the Upper Peninsula to Sandusky, OH, and all parts in between, including the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island [MI],” LaGrasso said.
To help make that process more cost-effective, LaGrasso noted that the company recently installed new energy-efficient LED lights, by San Diego-based Bright Ideas, throughout its warehouse.
As a family-run company, the fourth generation of LaGrasso’s has also stepped up to the plate this past year, and will continue to take on larger roles and help grow the business in 2015.
“We look forward to continuing the hard work and leaving a company that is still growing for the fifth generation,” LaGrasso added.
