Jewell to help facilitate Maxco's expansion
Maxco Packaging, located in Parlier, CA, announced that it has completed negotiations with Steve Jewell, president of Green Valley Packaging in Watsonville, CA, on a deal that will bring Mr. Jewell to Maxco as director of sales for the coastal region, a newly created position within Maxco.
Green Valley Packaging is a packaging distribution corporation that supplies a complete line of packaging primarily to strawberry grower-shippers throughout California as well as major vegetable companies on the central coast.
Mr. Jewell will maintain the Watsonville offices and staff with plans of expansion in the future as he grows the business along the coast for Maxco. "I have tremendous respect for Max Flaming and the company he has built. I am looking forward to working with everyone at Maxco to provide outstanding service and quality to our existing and new customers," Mr. Jewell said in a statement. The addition of Mr. Jewell will result in Maxco continuing the course of becoming a full-service supplier to the California produce industry. Maxco's box design and engineering capabilities allow it to continually develop new products for the industry.
Max Flaming, president of Maxco Packaging, said that he is very pleased to announce the changes within the company. "Steve has been a good friend for many years, and we are excited to have him as a part of our team. Only good things will come with Steve on board," Mr. Flaming said in a statement.
Kevin Allen, vice president of sales for Maxco, added, "I have always enjoyed the relationship with Steve and his family. Steve has always supported me in my endeavors, and now we have the opportunity to work together. Steve is a terrific addition to our sales staff, and I sincerely look forward to working together."
Maxco entered the strawberry market in 2004 with a new corrugated container to meet the needs of the new modular footprint. It has been a major packaging supplier to the tree fruit and grape industry for over 30 years and is the only privately owned, fully integrated produce industry packaging supplier and equipment manufacturer in California.
In addition to a 98-foot corrugator and three rotary die cutters, it owns and operates a transportation fleet and distribution hubs throughout the San Joaquin Valley.
