Price Chopper raises more than $170,000 for children’s hospital
Price Chopper has raised more than $170,000 — an increase of almost 10 percent more than was raised in 2013 — from its month-long pin-up campaign and the sale of more than 8,600 plush hippos for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
This is the 13th year the regional supermarket chain has partnered with St. Jude, and to date Price Chopper has raised more than $1 million through its annual fundraiser.
“Our teammates and customers have rallied once again with a tremendous effort in support of St. Jude, ” Mona Golub, vice president of public relations and consumer services and the company spokesperson, said in a press release. "For more than a decade, we’ve been proud to help spread the word on the St. Jude mission and the quality care that they provide to all who need it.”
This was the fifth year that, as part of the campaign, a jungle-themed plush animal was sold and a donation was earmarked for the St. Jude campaign. In the past, stuffed lions, elephants, giraffes and zebras were sold as part of the campaign; this year, hippos were available in three different colors: purple, gray and blue.
