LD Logistics sees good business ahead
With 10 years of service under its chassis, LD Logistics LLC of the Bronx, NY, expects 2015 to be a good year with moderate growth.
Lance Dichter, who is the general manager and founder of the company, said he does not have much new to report, other than business is good. “We had a good year last year; it was the best year we ever had.”
Dichter founded the company about a decade ago as a dry freight hauler. He quickly moved into the perishable commodities business and has seen his business grow every year. He indicated that the recession did not slow him down.
LD Logistics is a nationwide transportation broker that works all of the important fresh produce shipping districts. He said the main areas where his customers are located include Washington, California, Arizona, Texas and Florida. The location of the offices on the Hunts Point Terminal Market helps diversify the business by handling both market and chain business. As a gauge of how the company has grown, Dichter said that 10 years ago he started as a two-man operation and today LD Logistics has 12 truck brokers working the phones.
In early January he said business was a bit slow because of lack of vegetables from the California and Arizona desert, which had recently been hit with some very cold weather. Dichter said that for the next several months the truck supply situation should be in very good shape.
