Bob Meek takes CEO post at Wada Farms
Potato industry veteran Bob Meek has joined Wada Farms Marketing Group as the operation's new chief executive officer.
Prior to his recent move to the Wada office in Idaho Falls, ID, Mr. Meek held the positions of vice president of potatoes and onions and of vice president of sales for tomatoes, avocados and vegetables with Del Monte Fresh Produce in Coral Gables, FL.
Wada Farms Marketing Group handles all sales and distribution for Wada Farms as well as Dole potato and onion products, which had been handled by Profresh LLC before that company merged with the Wada Farms group in early 2006.
"I saw a great opportunity in this company, working with Wada Farms and with Dole," Mr. Meek said of his decision to return to Idaho Falls.
"There is tremendous potential, and it is really nice to be back in the West," he added.
Mr. Meek and his wife, Lynnette, have four children, and the family has relocated to the Idaho Falls area.
Though he officially assumed the job of CEO in mid-June, Mr. Meek said in early August, "I've been in the office here for about a week."
A native of Monte Vista, CO, Mr. Meek has been in the potato industry for nearly 20 years, including a position in Idaho Falls from 1999 to mid-2005.
"I am really looking forward to bringing value to our customers through innovative ideas," Mr. Meek said.
He said that John Stanger, who has held the position of president and administrative director for Wada's Dole program, will remain with the company as the Dole administrative consultant. Daily operations management between production and sales will be handled by Wada Farms Chief Operating Officer Bryan Wada, and Kevin Stanger has taken on the expanded role as senior vice president over both labels, Mr. Meek said.
