Fowler Farms now a proud supporter of PMA’s ‘eat brighter!’ movement
“We are now a proud supporter of the ‘eat brighter!’ movement,” said Lee Peters, vice president of sales and marketing for Fowler Bros. Inc., in Wolcott, NY. “We encourage all to join us in promoting this movement today.”
Initiated by Sesame Workshop and the Produce Marketing Association, Peters said this powerful movement encourages kids ages two to five years old to be healthier and eat more fruits and veggies.
Fowler Farms is now a proud sponsor of PMA’s ‘eat brighter!’ movement, according to Lee Peters, vice president of sales and marketing for the company. The movement got its start in October 2013 during a White House event with First Lady Michelle Obama, Sesame Workshop and PMA. The group collectively announced the formation of a unique and powerful collaboration committed to increasing children’s consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables.
The collaboration is part of a commitment to the Partnership for a Healthier America, which works with the private sector and PHA Honorary Chair First Lady Michelle Obama to broker commitments to help end the childhood obesity epidemic.
“The ‘Sesame Street’ brand and popular characters are now featured on Fowler Farms’ apple packaging as part of our involvement in the program,” said Peters. “Apples support good nutrition by providing essential vitamins, minerals and dietary fiber. Powerful antioxidants in apples also protect cells against damage caused by free radicals.”
Peters added that retailers and other users can increase their sales of fresh apples by offering Fowler Farms’ products.
“We offer a wide variety of apples, each one with its own unique flavor and character,” he said. “Our quality assurance process maintains extremely high standards of quality for our apples assuring their safe, bruise-free arrival to our customers.”
Lovable “Sesame Street” characters like Elmo, on Fowler Farms’ packaging help to leverage the attention of children and encourages moms to make healthier choices and buy the company’s apples.
The company also has ‘eat brighter!’ point-of-sale options available for its customers. More about the movement can be found at www.PMA.com/EatBrighter, and by searching #eatbrighter on social media.
Fowler Farms has been producing apples since 1858, and the sixth generation of family members are now at the helm.
“We’re planning for a long future and many more generations to come,” said Peters.
