Highline launches organic mushroom line
Highline Mushrooms, based in Leamington, ON, announced July 27 the launch of its new organic line, which includes 100 percent certified organic white, Mini Bella and sliced Portabella mushrooms.
"We think growing organic mushrooms is one of Highline's finest achievements," Murray O'Neil, founder and owner of Highline Mushrooms, said in a statement. "We have been on the leading edge of many advances in technology over the past 45 years, but this is one that has great significance for ourselves, our retail partners and speaks directly to the desires of consumers.
"We are a family run farm that takes great pride in working hard and doing things right," continued Mr. O'Neil. "This introduction is an extension of that. It combines providing the natural goodness of mushrooms grown without any of the chemicals regularly used during cultivation with all of the benefits and flavor that come from adding mushrooms to virtually any meal occasion."
Janine Paley, director of marketing for Highline, added in the release, "Retailers and consumers will see the same great quality and appearance they have come to expect from all Highline mushrooms. We will be packaging in crystal clear recyclable cups with stylized graphics designed for increased attractiveness as well as protection of the environment."
Highline Mushrooms is one of the larger independent family- owned grower-shippers of fresh mushrooms in Canada, with locations in Leamington, ON, Wellington, ON, and Montreal.
