Homestead FL-based Brooks Tropicals Inc. has hired Zoltan Pinter as vice president of administration. Mr. Pinter will spearhead the continued expansion of the firm's Belizean papaya production, oversee the rollout of new information technology, and handle the company's legal matters and government relations.
Mr. Pinter's multiple skills were honed during a decade in the produce industry and his experience will be put to immediate use meeting the market's increased demand for Brooks' "Caribbean Red" and "Caribbean Sunrise" brand papayas, according to a company statement.
Before joining Brooks, Mr. Pinter worked for Fresh Del Monte Produce Inc. and more recently for Growers Express LLC, where he was vice president of corporate affairs. His first job was bagging groceries in a Publix in Miami Beach.
Born in Chile and raised in Miami, he is an avid consumer of produce. As a cash-strapped college student he didn't pick his favorite eatery for its early-bird special, but rather for a late vegetable special offering diners three vegetable dishes for the price of two.
Mr. Pinter resides in Coral Gables, FL, with his wife, Cristina, and seven-year-old daughter, Victoria.
