Baja Son Growers announces new website, new hire
Baja Son Growers, one the older growers of asparagus from Mexicali and Caborca, Mexico, recently launched a new website to showcase its growth and presence as one of the major grower-packer-shippers of asparagus coming from Mexico. According to a company press release, the website marks its presence as a growing trade brand that began back in 1950, and continues to this day.
The company, headquartered in Salinas, CA, entered the sales and marketing arena in 2010 and introduced the Baja Son Premium asparagus label. One of the few asparagus marketing companies in the industry that is the grower as well, the firm’s rich history is showcased in the company’s new website, www.bajasongrowers.com.
“We believe that a big part of our value is the service and quality of our product, and I think that is reflected on our website,” stated Robert Leonard, company sales manager, in the release. With this, buyers can find the availability and location of Baja Son Growers products, food-safety certifications, and recipes.
In addition to the new website, Baja Son Growers has hired a new member to the sales staff. Mike Sereno joined the Baja Son Growers team to accommodate its growth and to better serve its customer base. He has over 20 years experience in the produce industry, the last 15 of which have been focused almost exclusively on asparagus sales.
“I have been really impressed with the quick growth of Baja Son Growers and jumped at the opportunity to work with this group, I am really excited about the future here. They have such an amazing history and dedication to getting their customers the highest quality product,” Sereno said in the release.
With offices in Salinas and Calexico, Baja Son Growers established its roots in 1950 when asparagus trials began in Mexicali, Mexico. By 1964 it had over 2,500 acres of asparagus and was supplying the U.S. market. It continued its regional expansion, eventually growing green onions and leeks as well.
In 2010 the growers entered the marketing and sales area and have grown into one of the larger suppliers of top-quality asparagus, green onions, and leeks.
