RBest Produce achieves PrimusGFS certification, actively focused on food safety
In October RBest Produce Inc. and sister company El Sol Brands Inc. celebrated their first year anniversary operating from the newly built warehouse in Port Washington, NY. Along with this milestone, last month the company’s 70,000-square-foot facility achieved Primus Global Food Safety Certification.
“We are proud of all the developments that have been achieved with the move," Philip DelPrete, company president, said in a press release. "The facility’s advancements are a reflection of our hard working team and dedication to our standard of providing top-quality products from a top-level facility. We are committed to food safety and providing the utmost quality assurance for our customers and furthermore the community.”
Preparing for certification as early as construction, RBest maintains strict safety standards and has spent the last year perfecting company procedures. The facility passed the thorough audit on its first attempt, scoring 100 percent in HACCP System Requirements and a total Primus GFS score of 97 percent.
RBest Produce is a full-service distributor with a full line of conventional and organic produce servicing supermarkets and foodservice customers throughout the tri-state area, as well as Boston to Philadelphia.
El Sol Brands Inc, with facilities in New York and Miami, is one of the larger importers of tropical roots as well as Latin and Asian vegetables, serving large chain stores, wholesalers and terminal markets from Miami to Boston and Chicago, as well as all points in between. Its proprietary "El Sol Brands" label is known for its quality and consistency.
“With this certification we are now readily available to service a wider range of clients which require these certifications,” Vice President of Sales Louis Scagnelli said in the release.
By early 2015 RBest Produce plans to complete an expansion of the facility, adding 20,000 square feet of refrigerated space to ensure its ability to grow and continue to provide top-level service and quality.
