New York Apple Sales installing internal defect sorters at two Hudson Valley packing facilities
New York Apple Sales, headquartered in Castleton, NY, has exhibited at every New York Produce Show since it began several years ago. This year the company will be at Booth No. 162 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center North Hall in Manhattan on Dec. 2-4
Kaari Stannard, president of the company, said that last year’s show seemed to have more retail — or target — buyers.
“And, of course, the show was inundated with both Hunts Point and Brooklyn sellers and buyers,” she said. “We also feel that this year’s show is better timing because it is not so close to Christmas.”
New York Apple Sales will be featuring its two-pound pouch bag line of both mainstream and premier varieties, including the Fuji, Pink Lady and Honeycrisp apples.
Early in the fall, Stannard told The Produce News that the company had installed a new packing line and bagging line for the current season.
“And we are installing internal defect sorters into two of our Hudson Valley packing facilities to complement our current technology in Western New York facilities,” she added. “We are continually exploring and investing the best technology available.”
The company continues to distribute primarily east of the Mississippi up and down the East Coast. It also exports to numerous foreign countries.
Earlier this year, New York Apple Sales launched a new website and a new logo.
It also introduced a new pouch package with a handle and zip lock closure. The bag stands upright.
