Gourmet’s Finest retail mushroom packaging ‘a foodie’s delight’
Gourmet’s Finest, which has a strong reputation working with customers in the foodservice sector, is making its entrée into the retail market and plans to roll out new, unique mushroom packaging in September.
“We are now entering into the retail sector with a totally unique package and mushroom type,” Vice President of Marketing David Ranscht told The Produce News.
“Our new closable, 100 percent recyclable, Heirloom Taste mushrooms are going to be introduced at the end of this month,” he continued. “The packages offered will be a handpicked and cut steakhouse slice, a single serve gourmet stuffing mushroom and the original Kennett Square button. We are very excited about the new package as there have not been any major changes in the packaging of mushrooms in 30 years.”
The company is headquartered in Avondale, PA.
The packaging will grab consumer attention. “The box is very different than what the consumer is used to,” Ranscht went on to say. “There are recipes, history, suggestions and an offer for a free mushroom brush to our loyal customers.”
Innovation doesn’t stop with the packaging itself. “The mushrooms inside the Heirloom Taste package have been left on the bed longer than traditional mushrooms, giving them a better tasting ‘more mushroom’ taste. Truly a foodie’s delight. ‘Fresh’ foodies have taken over the marketplace and are interested in foods that taste good and are different than what their parents had available” he added.
In addition to mushrooms, Ranscht said, “We also are distributors of the Five Star peeled products that include peeled shallots, peeled cippolini, peeled red pearl onions as well as white pearl onions. We also have baby wild rocket arugula, baby spinach and spring mix shipped green beans.”
Additionally, Gourmet’s Finest is the sole distributor of Ark shishito peppers. “These are the trendiest, most popular pepper of 2014,” Ranscht said. “We pride ourselves in offering our customers something different than everyone else. While everybody in our industry is going left, we are going right.”
All of the items above are available both in retail and foodservice packs. Gourmet’s Finest moves commodities from its facilities in Pennsylvania and Michigan.
“Currently, we deliver to many major cities daily including Chicago, Detroit, St. Louis, Atlanta, Indianapolis, Nashville, Boston and New York,” Ranscht stated.
