Vice president of Shipping Point Marketing dies at 54
Mark Dirrigl, vice president and partner of Shipping Point Marketing, Inc., passed away on Saturday, Aug. 16 after complications from surgery. He was at 54 years old.
Originally from Rochester, NY, Mr. Dirrigl worked at Louis Fishgold, Inc. from the late 1970s to early 1980s. He later joined Louis J. Decarlo & Sons in Buffalo, NY. At Decarlo, Mr. Dirrigl became a partner and dramatically increased sales, especially with fresh strawberries and tomatoes.
In 2006, he and his family decided to leave Buffalo for a more favorable climate in Arizona, where Mr. Dirrigl joined Shipping Point Marketing, and later introduced his younger brother Bill to the business.
He is survived by his wife Tamie and son Jamie. He will be missed by many in the fresh produce industry, especially his co-workers at Shipping Point. In lieu of flowers, Mr. Dirrigl’s family asked that donations be made to his son Jamie's college fund.
Checks should be made out to James W. Dirrigl and sent to:
