Crunch Pak promoting health and nutritional benefits of cleaned, ready-to-eat fresh apple slices
Crunch Pak is the leading maker of cleaned, ready-to-eat fresh apple slices. Located in Cashmere, WA, the heart of Washington state apple country, Crunch Pak was founded by apple growers who believed that people would consume more apples if they were easier to eat. Today, Crunch Pak is one of the larger sliced apple producers in the country.
Crunch Pak is exhibiting at Booth No. 109 at the PMA Foodservice Conference & Expo in Monterey, CA, on July 25-27. Representing the company at the event will be: Tony Freytag, senior vice president of sales and marketing; Krista Jones, director of marketing and product development; Bob Cummings, senior director, national accounts; and Tim Beals, west coast regional manager.
Crunch Pak is a leading maker of cleaned, ready-to-eat fresh apple slices.“Crunch Pak utilizes the perfect recipe of vitamin C and calcium to prevent spoilage and maintain the crispness of an apple after it’s sliced,” said Freytag. “Crunch Pak’s breathable bags allow the sliced apples to receive the right mixture of oxygen while emitting carbon dioxide. This combination ensures the apples maintain optimum quality during transportation to market.”
Crunch Pak was founded 12 years ago. The company provides over 800 year-round jobs in a region that is highly seasonal. It produces 1,200 slices per minute, which add up to 72,000 slices per hour, that equals two million slices in just one day, and more than one billion slices a year. Crunch Pak has sliced enough apples since inception, that if they were laid end to end, they would wrap around the world 24 times. The company said that on average, 65 apples per person are consumed in America each year, which is 780 Crunch Pak slices.
The company is also bullish on community service. Its dedication to community giving stems from the belief that as a company it is supported by its local community and that as responsible corporate citizens we need to give back.
Each month Crunch Pak selects charities and local groups to support, which can take the form of either cash or in-kind donations of sliced apples. It supports groups in Leavenworth, Cashmere, Wenatchee and East Wenatchee, all in Washington.
Crunch Pak fresh-cut apples are available year-round to foodservice customers nationwide.
“Crunch Pak continues to innovate to assure stable shelf life for maximum freshness and selling opportunity,” said Freytag. “Our research and development department is constantly working on new product and package innovation that will meet the needs of health conscious consumers. That could mean a longer shelf life, a new size package or a new item.”
