FPFC North sells out again
The Fresh Produce & Floral Council once again sold out its popular Northern California Expo April 9 at the Alameda Fairgrounds in Pleasanton, CA. There were 158 booths with representatives from over 200 companies and more than 1,300 attendees. About 40 percent of the booths showcased floral-related products.
The booth set up by Ocean View Flowers in Lompoc, CA, won the Best in Show award for the floral category.
“We’ve been exhibiting at the expo for probably six or seven years,” said Dan Vordale, vice president of sales and marketing for Ocean View Flowers. “It’s an upbeat show, it’s well-run, and we really like going.”
The all-day event was a pure trade show format with no other programming and the main focus was networking.
“This event offers the convenience of a one day show in which retailers in California don’t have to travel too far and suppliers can easily meet with their customers and form new relationships,” said Carissa Mace, FPFC president, in a news release. “It’s mainly management and buyers who come to the show,” Mace said, “though some store-level personnel also show up.”
“It’s a one day regional show so you’re in and out,” Vordale said. “We picked up some new business and we’ve already seen some purchase orders coming through from customers we’ve been trying to secure for a while, so it was very responsive.”
Jennifer Pelayo, chairman of the council’s Northern California Committee, which plans the event, was very excited about the show’s multiple networking opportunities and was happy to see the many new products and several old friends, along with meeting some new ones.
