AIFD plans symposium for 2014 in the Windy City
The American Institute of Floral Designers will hold the Transition Transformation 2014 National Symposium at the downtown Hilton in Chicago July 3-7. Stage presentations by floral designers from around the world will be on the program, along with education sessions, workshops, a silent auction, a floral partners expo and book fair marketplace, student competitions and awards and induction ceremonies.
Along with a banquet and dancing, another fun event according to the symposium website will be the Body Wear Design Contest. Participants use donated products to create a body adornment for the Leadership Gala on July 7 and then enter a contest for the best men’s and lady’s floral. The winners receive complimentary general registration to the 2015 National Symposium, Journey, in Denver.
Last year’s symposium, Passion in Las Vegas, attracted over 1,000 floral designers from the United States, Belgium, Japan and Russia. Todd Simmons from Three Bunch Palms Productions in Palm Springs, CA, received the Award of Distinguished Service to AIFD, and the two companies presented with the Award of Merit-Industry were Accent Décor in Norcross, GA, and Mayesh Wholesale Florist in Los Angeles.
Each year, AIFD holds its national symposium in a different host city as an opportunity for designers to gather together to share ideas, educational tips, network and advance the industry of floral design.
