SAF mini-conference for florists June 10-11 in Chicago
The Society of American Florists will conduct a “retail growth solutions” mini-conference at the Hilton Rosemont in Chicago June 10-11. SAF believes it will be “36 hours that will change your life,” according to a news release. The two-day program will focus on increasing floral profits through pricing strategies, online branding, motivated employees and everyday designs.
Some of the speakers include James Dion, president of Dionco Inc., a consulting firm in Chicago, who will teach strategies for increasing sales through the psychology of pricing and visual merchandising tricks. There will also be a Trend Talkback brainstorming session with Dion and fellow attendees.
Renato Sogueco, chief information officer for SAF, will give practical advice about branding through social media and search engine optimization relevant to the floral industry. Sogueco translates “geek speak” into user-friendly, everyday language, according to the release.
Participants will have the opportunity to talk with reps from leading technology companies at the Tech Showcase and learn the latest web, point-of-sale and tech options for florists. There will also be time set aside for one-to-one personal tech support with the “tech doc.”
Tim Farrell, owner of Farrell’s Florist in Drexel Hill, PA, will demonstrate design techniques and mechanics that save time and increase profits, and explain the top time-wasters.
There will also be a CSI: Flower Shop — Live workshop with Tim Huckabee, president of FloralStrategies in New York, who will teach clear communication skills and how to ensure customer satisfaction.
In addition to the educational sessions, networking opportunities will be provided including a special networking reception and dinner.
