Apples, cherries crowning gems in Chelan Fresh manifest
Chelan Fresh Marketing plans to promote two premiere products — Canadian apples and Pacific Northwest cherries — at this year’s Canadian Produce Marketing Association Annual Convention and Trade Show in Vancouver, BC, April 2-4.
Serving as a link between growers and retailers, the company — which represents more than 419 growers from its headquarters in Chelan, WA — has been moving quality tree fruit since 2004.
Chelan Fresh Marketing will move 400,000 boxes of Gala, Honeycrisp and Ambrosia apples grown in Canada. Director of Marketing Mac Riggin said Chelan Fresh will exhibit at Booth No. 203. Riggin will be available to talk with attendees, as will Bill Dinham who handles domestic sales and Stewart Lange, a marketing specialist based in Calgary, Alberta.
“The venue gives us first-hand experience with our customers,” Riggin told The Produce News. Individual questions can be fully addressed, and Riggin said the atmosphere gives Chelan Fresh a ripe opportunity to talk about its innovative programs, which can boost a customer’s bottom line.
Chelan Fresh will be marketing approximately 400,000 boxes of Gala, Honeycrisp and Ambrosia apples grown in Canada, and Riggin said this is a prime program to move quality fruit within Canada, the United States and to some export markets.
Discussion about cherries will also figure prominently during the convention. Chelan Fresh is a leader in the field and has revolutionized the concept of convenience through such innovations as its ‘Cup O Cherries’ packaging, providing stem-free cherries in a cup with a reservoir in the lid for the discarded pits.
