Mastronardi Produce achieves Fair Trade-certified status
Mastronardi Produce announced that it is now offering a variety of fair trade certified products.
"Sunset Campari" brand cocktail tomatoes, "One Sweet" peppers, "Kumato" tomatoes and sweet Bell peppers are among the products that have become Fair Trade certified. These products are now available year-round to consumers across North America.
"We're very proud to have these products available for consumers who are growing increasingly conscious of social responsibility," Paul Mastronardi, chief executive officer of Mastronardi Produce, based in Kingsville, ON, said in a press release. "As a company that is non-GMO certified and has certified organic facilities, gaining Fair Trade certification is another important step to make our mission come full circle."
Corporate social responsibility is an important initiative for Mastronardi Produce. It was among the early fresh produce companies to become non-GMO certified and to receive dual U.S. and Canadian organic certification for its two largest facilities.
