EPC to hold second meeting at Philadelphia produce market
The Philadelphia Wholesale Produce Market will be the site of the Eastern Produce Council's meeting in May 2014, which will feature a former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback as the keynote speaker.
This will be the second meeting at the state-of-the-art facility. The first meeting was held in 2012 and drew over 240 attendees.
Retired Philadelphia Eagles Quarterback Ron (Jaws) Jaworski will keynote the event. Jaworski has successfully taken his leadership skills from the gridiron to the boardroom defining the lines where sports meets business. He has always exhibited an entrepreneurial spirit and today owns a professional sports team, a business relationship company and four golf courses.
Jaworski and his family strive to give back to the community. They put their heart and soul in their foundation, Jaws Youth Playbook, which helps improve the overall health and wellness of at-risk youth, primarily in the Greater Philadelphia area along with the NFL and United Way, according to his website.
The afternoon-evening event will feature guided tours of the facility, a cocktail reception, a performance by the Ferko String Band and dinner that will include the finest foods of Philadelphia.
"We welcome the Eastern Produce Council back to Philadelphia," Sonny DiCrecchio, president and chief executive officer of the PWPM, said in a press release. "The last meeting drew over 240 guests and visitors. We are very excited to have a bigger and better event planned for May. We are very pleased to present Mr. Jaworski."
"We are thrilled to be back in Philadelphia," added Paul Kneeland of Kings Food Market and president of the Eastern Produce Council. "The Philadelphia Wholesale Produce Market is a state-of-the-art facility that is critical to the produce industry in the greater Philadelphia area and beyond. The folks at the PWPM have done a great job pulling together Philadelphia Night."
The event takes place on Tuesday, May 13 and kicks off at 4:30 with tours of the facility followed by a cocktail reception at 5:30. The dinner, featuring Jaworski's keynote address, begins at 7 p.m. Several sponsorships are available, and space will be limited, so those wishing to attend are encouraged to register at www.easternproducecouncil.com.
