Gebet named Canadian sales manager of The Produce News
ORADELL, NJ -- The Produce News has announced the promotion of Joel Gebet to Canadian sales manager, effective March 13. In this new position, Mr. Gebet will take charge of all advertising sales in Canada, as well as be in a lead position for planning and implementing editorial coverage of Canadian clientele and issues.
Mr. Gebet, who earned his bachelor's degree in journalism and mass media in 2002 from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ, joined The Produce News last May as an account executive. Prior to that, he worked as a reporter and writer for several newspapers and trade magazines, including The Star Ledger, New Jersey's largest daily newspaper. Most recently, he was a contract investigator for the U.S. Office of Personnel Management.
"In the 10 months that Joel has been with us, he has established himself as a key member of our staff who wholeheartedly welcomes new challenges," said John Groh, editor and associate publisher of The Produce News, which is based here. "The promotion to Canadian sales manager is in recognition for the fine job he has done in building our business north of the border. And while that will be a major focus of his efforts, Joel will continue to work on other accounts and special projects where we can best utilize his talents."
"It has been a true pleasure working with the members of the Canadian produce industry," Mr. Gebet said. "I look forward to helping to promote the companies and individuals involved in Canadian produce to our readers for many years to come."
As part of his duties as Canadian sales manager, Mr. Gebet will be the main representative for The Produce News at the upcoming Canadian Produce Marketing Association convention and exposition in Vancouver, where he will present The Produce News' Fresh Health Award during a March 24 ceremony to a company or organization which has done an exemplary job in promoting produce consumption in Canada.
