CPAC names new executive director
The Colorado Potato Administrative Committee in Monte Vista, CO, announced March 8 that it has filled its top position after an extensive search.
Jim Ehrlich, 49, a local regional manager for Coors Beer for the past 10 years, was selected from several applicants. The job has been vacant since former Director Chris Voigt left last year to head the Washington State Potato Commission.
Mr. Ehrlich brings extensive agriculture experience to this new position, where he will be running the 200-plus member organization, heading legislative, grower/issue relations and administrative programs. His responsibilities with Coors included cultivating close relationships with barley growers in the area and overseeing more than 40,000 production acres, in addition to running the company's seed-farm operations.
The search committee, made up of CPAC growers and shippers, took its time in selecting a final candidate because it wanted someone committed to the area.
"The right fit was key," said newly promoted Senior Administrator Linda Weyers, a native of Monte Vista who has been with the committee for 12 years. "We are a small, close group and wanted someone who would fit in quickly, know the issues and get the job done. Jim has lived here for a long time and knows our strengths and challenges. I am excited to be able to share some of the responsibilities and get a lot accomplished quickly."
