Boise software company works with Treasure Valley shippers
For more than three decades fresh produce packers and shippers have turned to Unisun Software for inventory management. Today the Boise-based operation, under the direction Systems Engineer and founder Sally Robertson and General Manager Jennifer Ellsworth, has several Treasure Valley onion shippers among its users.
According to Ellsworth, the company’s original software program was ProSun, which has been replaced by Envio. And the program provides traceability from field to store, which is important for all produce items.
“We are integral to their businesses,” she said, adding, “No two onion companies are the same.”
Still, she said, the grower-packer-shippers who comprise the onion industry of Idaho-Eastern Oregon “really do communicate with each other for the greater good, and they invest for generation to generation.”
The Envio program itself is made up of innovative and “highly customizable produce inventory management and accounting software to address the changing needs of the packer-grower-shipper industry.” A statement from Unisun noted, “We understand that many of our customers have run their business — and plan to continue running their businesses — for generations. We work hard to support our family-run businesses by understanding the technical preferences of coming generations, changing to adapt to industry standards and government regulations, and building our software using open architecture that enables integration with other business-critical applications.”
The Envio fresh produce program Envio Reports further helps packers and growers plan for the future, and Unisun’s support for handheld devices improves efficiency and lower error rates.
Envio software is maximized to enable transparent inventory control and traceability, and the inventory labeling solution provides key traceback information from the farmer’s field to store shelf.
