Maui Pineapple Co.'s Maui Gold gets new look
Updated product tags and boxes featuring a new design for Maui Pineapple Co.'s extra sweet Maui Gold Pineapple hit grocery stores in January.
"The new product packaging better reflects Maui Pineapple's authentic Hawaiian heritage and values, and helps bring the magic of Maui to our customers on the mainland," Howard Nager, vice president of sales and marketing, said in a statement.
"This is the first step in a new direction for Maui Pineapple Company," added Mr. Nager. "It illustrates how we will work hand-in-hand with our sister company, The Kapalua Land Company, integrating agriculture, wise stewardship of natural resources and eco-effective design principles into all of our products and services."
The new double-sided, folded, full-color tag is loaded with information. It describes how Maui's sunny days, cool nights, fresh water and rich volcanic soil produce the world's best pineapple, as well as the special relationship with the Kapalua Resort, a 23,000-acre tropical oasis set amidst the pineapple plantation on Maui's northwest coast.
Kapalua's logo -- a pineapple inside a butterfly -- symbolizes the integration of the pineapple plantation with the legendary destination resort. This symbol has been incorporated in part of Maui Gold's new art work. Additionally, the tag includes helpful fresh pineapple tips and illustrates the best way to cut a pineapple. Updated display boxes use new, natural-themed colors, promote the pineapple's extra sweet flavor, and highlight that the pineapple is hand-picked ripe in Maui.
