Executive changes position Oppenheimer for future strength
The Oppenheimer Group announced a number of executive changes that will position the Vancouver, BC-based company for the future.
"We've realigned several aspects of our management structure in order to support the company's strategic objectives and to position us well into the future," John Anderson, chairman, president and chief executive officer, said in a statement. "Several members of our management team now have the opportunity to apply their talents to new challenges, and round out their ability to contribute now and in the coming years. We feel these changes will strengthen the organization significantly."
James Milne, former director of marketing, has been appointed to the new role of executive director of greenhouse and citrus categories. Mr. Milne is returning to his roots, having spent 15 years bringing internationally grown apples and pears to market before being tapped for Oppenheimer's top marketing spot in 2001.
In his new position, he will continue to develop Oppenheimer's robust greenhouse category, coordinating closely with Kevin Batt, greenhouse category manager. Mr. Milne will also concentrate on the strategic growth of company's emerging citrus category. He has been with Oppenheimer since 1996.
Mr. Milne is among the company's category leaders who now report to David Smith, vice president of sales and marketing for categories. Mr. Smith oversees Oppenheimer's category-focused marketing approach, connecting grower volume with market needs. This strategy was previously guided by Bob Dunlop, senior vice president and chief operations officer, who will now concentrate on the company's expanding logistics and operations initiatives.
Working closely with Mr. Dunlop will be Pat Bruyneel, who has been promoted from the position of western Canadian transportation manager to become Oppenheimer's North American transportation manager. Mr. Bruyneel will take the reins of the company's transportation branch, David Oppenheimer Transport, bringing his innovative and strategic approach into the leadership of Oppenheimer's logistics services.
Mike Reed, former director of the company's greenhouse category, will take on the new position of executive director of marketing. Mr. Reed will oversee Oppenheimer's varied marketing services, which include category analysis, packaging, marketing and communication campaigns, and product promotion.
