Mike Marshall to head FNGLA for 2013-14
President-Elect Mike Marshall automatically advances to head the Florida Nursery, Growers & Landscape Association in 2013-14 and other officers will be elected at the association’s annual meeting June 15 in Weston, FL, an association news release announced.
The FNGLA Nominating Committee has made its recommendations for 2013-14 president-elect, Sandy Stein, and secretary-treasurer, Billy Butterfield. Wes Parrish, the current president, automatically advances to become past-president in 2013-14.
President-Elect Mike Marshall of Marshall Tree Farm in Morriston, FL, has served FNGLA as a committee member and chairman of The Great Southern Tree Conference, chaired the association’s budget committee and served on its board of directors.
Marshall is also active in several industry groups, including the International Society of Arboriculture, and is a graduate of the Wedgworth Leadership Institute at the University of Florida, as are Stein and Butterworth. Marshall is heavily involved in sales, marketing and production at his family business.
Sandy Stein, owner of The Jungle Nursery in Miami, started in the nursery business in 1981. He served FNGLA’s Miami-Dade chapter in many capacities including president, and has also served on the association’s board of directors and as a division board representative. He serves as the membership committee chairman. Stein serves on local nursery boards and committees, and is also a licensed psychotherapist.
Butterfield, owner of Ameriscapes Landscape Management in Orlando, FL, became active in FNGLA through his interest in its landscape certification program and is now one of the more experienced certification exam judges. Butterfield has served FNGLA’s Action Chapter in many capacities including president and has also served on the association’s board of directors, its membership committee and as a committee member for The Landscape Show.
Current President Wes Parrish, owner with his wife, Vickie, of Parrish Nursery in Parkland, FL, automatically advances to past-president. A member of FNGLA since 1979, he has been president of the National Foliage Foundation and treasurer and committee member for The Landscape Show. He has also been on FNGLA’s board of directors, active in the association’s Broward Chapter and a member of the Florida Garden Select jury.
