TruFresh Logistics expansion offers new opportunities
A recently established third-party logistics company, TruFresh Logistics, which specializes in fresh produce, dried fruit, and organic products, has expanded its footprint in Vineland, NJ.
“We launched in 2023 to specifically focus on produce,” said Paul Massey, director of business development and corporate counsel. “In January of this year, we expanded our warehouse to include 180,000 square feet of space. We have 6,200 cold storage pallet positions and another 1,200 pallet positions in ambient temperature.”
Massey said what makes TruFresh Logistics perfect for the produce industry is that it is founded by produce company experts and it only runs produce through its facility. “We are 100 percent produce,” he said. “We are a produce company at our core. We have knowledge of the product, the unique supply chain challenges and have a personal understanding of what customers need.”
He said virtually all the product TruFresh Logistics handles is imported fresh, “but we ship from here to the entire East Coast and as far away as California.”
He added that the increased cooler capacity and close proximity to the ports of Philadelphia, Wilmington (Delaware) and New York place it in the ideal position to service the produce community. “We offer production services, including repacking operations, from our 36,000 square feet of production floor space. We also have 11,000 square feet of mezzanine space where we have bagging lines for citrus and other commodities.”
Massey said the warehouse also features a dedicated, water-based cherry packing line, a strategic addition as the commodity is experiencing exploding production in South America. The 3PL facility also has kiwi packing lines and specialized capability to handle other products, including grapes.
“For citrus alone, we have the capacity to repack 200 pallets in the facility. Overall, we can manage up to 400 pallets,” he said.
TruFresh Logistics was founded by Nick Pacia of Trucco Inc. & A.J. Trucco. Massey reported that while TruFresh Logistics works closely with Trucco, it is its own commercial venture with its own outside customers.
Looking toward the future, Massey believes the January expansion should carry it for another four or five years. “We see great growth opportunities, especially with citrus and cherries from South America.”
Yasmin Pacia, chief marketing officer, commented on the expansion and the opportunities afforded by TruFresh Logistics: “We are all very excited about the future. It is the greatest step that we have taken so far. The expanded TruFresh Logistics facility is an unbelievable state-of-the-art warehouse offering great growth opportunities.”
Along with Massey, the facility’s key employees include: Operations Manager Thomas Latzkowski, Shipping and Receiving Manager Chris Hohman and Food Safety, Compliance Director Ashley Celestin.
