New cold storage and cross-docking operation Glacier Peak opens in Washington
Randy Hartmann, co-owner of Glacier Peak, a new cold storage, packing and cross-docking operation in Wapato, WA, announced its acquisition of the 55,000-square-foot cold storage warehouse Washington Harvest.
Hartmann shared that "the purchase of this cold storage and packing operation is intended to provide for greater capacity and flexibility over the consolidation, packing, quality control and cross-docking phase of the fresh produce supply chain in the heart of the Washington state agricultural region. In addition, it will allow us to expand our service offerings and customer centric approach to meet the varying warehousing, cold-storage, repacking, logistical and food safety needs of businesses throughout central and eastern Washington.
He added, "For our fresh produce partners throughout the United States, this cold storage and packing facility will increase the flexibility of Pacificpro Sales, our produce distribution partner, to meet each stake holders individual and unique needs while increasing the service and product offerings we can provide, which continues to become increasingly important and valuable in the evolving industry we operate in."
According to Marcus Hartmann, president of the new company, "We have been a grateful partner of the Hankins family, the previous owners of Washington Harvest, for the last few years and sincerely appreciative of their partnership. We hope to continue building on the reputation, quality, and food-safety focus in all aspects of operations and services that Washington Harvest has been known for over the last 30 years."
The Glacier Peak team has taken over day-to-day operations at the warehouse as of Aug. 1 under the new business name Glacier Peak Cold Storage & Packing.
