Floyd Charles Olsen, known best as “Chuck” to those in the produce industry, died Dec. 30 in Visalia, CA, after a battle with health problems related to back pain. He was 77.

Mr. Olsen founded his namesake Chuck Olsen Co. in 1987 and spent the majority of his life in the agriculture trade.

Southern Specialties, a leading grower, importer, processor and distributor of asparagus, is ramping up its expanded Mexican asparagus deal. The company continues to grow its presence in Mexico in order to satisfy demand from retail, club store and foodservice customers. The company will be shipping asparagus, grown in Caborca, Mexico until mid-April.

Whole Foods Market announced “Gourmet Date for Good,” a series of three virtual live cook-along events to celebrate Valentine’s Day weekend at home in three unique ways. Organized by Whole Foods Market and hosted by comedian Heather McMahan, actress Tabitha Brown and comedian Matt Bellassai, each event is designed for a different love-themed occasion, including Galentine’s Day on Feb. 13, Valentine’s Day on Feb. 14 and Singles Awareness Day on Feb. 15.
