Sev-Rend enjoying a strong 2024

It’s been an exciting year for Sev-Rend, a pioneer in tag and label application since 1993 and a leading supplier of high-performance tags, labels, pouches, netting and film.

“The most recent materials released in our portfolio would be lidding film, steamer bags and our pcr-ABLE product line,” said Brittnie Hammack, director of marketing for the Collinsville, IL-based company.

PCRThe company prides itself in offering many different sustainable packaging solutions.

“When possible, we design products for optimal recyclability, which includes creating monoplastic options,” Hammack said. “Our bio-ABLE products have a shelf life of 24 months and degrade fully both in terrestrial and marine environments. Our pcr-Able products include up to 60 percent recycled content. This aids our customers in meeting both retailer requirements as well as prepare for upcoming government restrictions, such as Canada’s goal of all plastic packaging being 50 percent PCR by 2030.”

One of Sev-Rev’s goals is to further improve sustainable product options and services that it offers to customers.

“Sustainability legislation as well as vendor demands continues to grow and change as it becomes a greater priority globally,” Hammack said. “Sev-Rend will continue to evolve to match the growing sustainability demands of our industry and will do so without compromising the affordable pricing and high quality of our products.”

To stay ahead of industry trends, Sev-Rend looks not at where the industry is now, but where it is going. For example, the company anticipated an evolving need for sustainable packaging options for customers to address certain issues and future regulation.

“Plastic packaging waste getting into the environment has become a critical problem,” Hammack said. “We offer an affordable solution to that with our bio-ABLE products that breaks down in a natural environment. This product has only become more relevant as research on the negative effects of microplastic pollution continues to be released.”

Another big development is Sev-Rend recently acquired Wolarmann Enterprises Ltd., a family-owned operation located in Barrie, Ontario, Canada. The company specializes in producing high-quality clipping wire and labels for netted products for the food industry.

“The integration allows Wolarmann Enterprises to expand their product portfolio, which benefits their customer base, and it has allowed Sev-Rend to enhance our product offerings and strengthen our market position,” Hammack said.

Sev-Rend also offers a handful of value-add services that its customers benefit from such as in-house sustainability consultants, an in-house graphics team and an online portal to place orders direct no matter the time of day to fit the customers’ schedule.

The company is known for its responsiveness and ability to deliver custom orders promptly.

“We value the relationships we have with our packer/shippers, distributors and retail partners,” Hammack said. “We understand the urgency within the produce industry and know how quickly things change during production or packing.”

With custom packaging solutions, Sev-Rend brings its product development team in at the beginning of the conversation.

“We aim for full transparency from the start to ensure we meet the customer requirements,” Hammack said. “Not only do we create packaging solutions for our customers, but we also have an in-house graphics team available to our customers to create or modify graphics. This increases time efficiency and lowers design costs that the customer may incur if they outsource to a design agency. It’s a joint effort that requires an all hands-on deck collaboration from several departments within Sev-Rend. This allows us to provide our customers with a seamless experience.”
