New storms with rain and snow impairing Coastal and Southern California
The California farm lands have needed water to remedy the dry drought areas for the longest time. Well, according to the National Weather Service, here comes more forecasted precipitation and low temperatures for California.
The California Department of Water Resources reports that the season-to-date precipitation is 150 percent of normal in many areas from the Sierra Nevada. Some temperatures in Southern California recently reached 15 degrees below normal.
This freaky weather will obviously have some impact on the farming areas. For one, it will delay growth and could possibly damage some crops as the heavy rain continues to fall and flood various lands.
In looking at some of the highlighted produce items, consider areas in the front line of the forecasted storms when considering them for ad promotions.
Strawberries: Florida supplies are fairly heavy on a light demand. Mexico demand is also very light on a steady market with good volume. California berries have been increasing but the rain storms are holding them back until the weather let's up.
Asparagus: Supply is light and the market steady. Weather conditions are impacting the production causing some shortages for the following couple weeks.
Grapes: Chile imports are heavy with demand fairly light and about steady. Peru imports are fairly heavy as well on the same lighter demand. Plenty of grapes for promotions.
Mandarins: California season began with good supplies available. Quality is excellent. Morocco import demand is fairly light on a steady market. Another good item for ad promoting.
Tomatoes: Demand is moderate with a lower market. Florida volume is steady with excellent quality. Mexican tomatoes are running very good with lower pricing on the market. Good promotional item.
Even though there are some weather complications in some areas, there are still a number of good items for ad promoting. Discuss those items with your suppliers and put together a partnership ad to generate some strong sales.
