NEPC announces 2025 leadership class
The New England Produce Council has announced its inaugural 2025 Leadership Class, a select group of rising professionals from across the produce industry. As part of the program’s kickoff, the leadership class recently toured C&S Wholesale Grocers Inc., where they experienced a behind-the-scenes look at the company's operations and its cutting-edge Symbotic automation system.
The visit, held at a C&S distribution facility, offered attendees an exclusive view into how automation is reshaping logistics in the supply chain. The Symbotic system’s advanced robotics and artificial intelligence enable high-speed, high-accuracy order fulfillment -- a growing need in today’s fast-paced foodservice and retail environments.
"This experience is designed to empower the next generation of produce leaders with exposure to the most advanced technologies and strategic thinking in our industry," NEPC Executive Director Laura Sullivan said. "We’re thrilled to partner with C&S Wholesale Grocers Inc. to showcase real-world innovation in action."

In addition to the facility tour, the visit provided opportunities for peer networking, dialogue with C&S leadership, and insight into the practical applications of automation in produce distribution.
"Welcoming the NEPC Leadership Class aligns with our commitment to collaboration and education across the food industry," said NEPC President David Dearborn and vice president of produce at C&S. "We're proud to showcase the innovations that help move the supply chain efficiently and sustainably."
The NEPC Leadership Program is designed to foster growth and career development by connecting emerging leaders with industry knowledge, mentors and transformative experiences. The tour at C&S is the first of several immersive learning sessions scheduled throughout the year.
