Market Minute: Promote asparagus, broccoli, cauliflower
With the temperatures cooling down across the country, it’s cooking time for the big three sales volume items: asparagus, broccoli and cauliflower.
An aggressive endcap display of all three will give your customers some tempting choices for that hot veggie side dish. Set up cauliflower in between asparagus and broccoli for some nice attractive color. Try to include these three in your weekly ad flyer program as a combination sale. A number of shoppers will purchase all three.
Asparagus production out of Peru and Mexico has picked up and shows a moderate demand and supply. Peru is heavy on the small and standard sizes.
The California broccoli supply is better, and the market is down with a moderate demand. Maine broccoli is still promotable with attractive pricing.
The California cauliflower market is down with a moderate demand and supply.
Ask for more information as to quality and availability from your suppliers. Plan those combination ads with and drive some high-volume sales.
