Crop changeover on onions, peppers, and tomatoes

New crop onions out of Texas have started and demand is fairly good. The market on medium yellow and white is higher with colossal slightly higher and others steady. Mexico is shipping through south Texas, and the market is slightly higher on a moderate demand. Vidalia sweet onion season has kicked off with good demand and a steady market. Organic Vidalia onions are also available in bags and bulk

The pepper market will remain higher until new areas start up around the end of April. Green Bell supply is light on good demand. Mexico crossings are limited through Nogales, AZ. The market on red peppers is slightly higher. Florida green pepper supply is very light with strong demand. Supply will remain light until the new Georgia crop is readily available. Hothouse colored peppers are picking up in volume.

The round tomato market is very light out of Florida with smaller sizes. The transition from south Florida to central area production is moving forward. Mexico is showing lighter demand on a steady market. Vine-ripe and cluster tomatoes are adequate and promotable.
