The Port of Philadelphia (PhilaPort), which is the largest refrigerated port in the United States, continues to grow.

“Philadelphia’s strength is with handling perishable commodities, typically chilled produce out of South and Central America,” said Joseph Fox, marketing manager for PhilaPort.

Pacific Trellis Fruit, the owner of the Dulcinea brand, continues adding strength to build the fundamentals to support the needs of its customers and suppliers in this ever-changing environment that the industry has been experiencing the last few years. Marcial Hernandez Manzano has been promoted to vice president of supply and operations and will lead the sourcing, operations and quality control departments of the Fruit Division, encompassing grapes, cherries, stone fruit and citrus.

TOMRA Food has appointed Peter Lamb as vice president, head of sales for TOMRA Fresh Food, a provider of integrated turnkey solutions for fresh fruit and vegetables. 

Chiquita launched a new global campaign — “It Peels So Good” — that reinforces its leadership role in the banana category while celebrating the brand’s premium quality, delicious taste, distinctive personality and iconic heritage.  

The Port of Wilmington, Delaware, which was founded in 1923, acts as a full-service deepwater port and marine terminal handling approximately 400 vessels annually with a yearly import/export cargo tonnage of more than 6 million tons.  

Located at the confluence of the Delaware and Christina Rivers, 65 miles from the Atlantic Ocean, the port is the busiest terminal on the Delaware River, producing $436 million in business revenue for the state and the region. It’s also responsible for nearly 6,000 jobs and generates $41 million in annual taxes.
