It’s a family affair for The Fresh Wave at CPMA
Consalo Family Farms and its distribution side, The Fresh Wave, is looking to big things ahead in 2022.
On the heels of last year’s expansion, which allowed for more than 1,000 pallets a day moving through the facility, the company welcomes 2022 with more growth.
“This is the second expansion the company has undergone in a matter of 12 months time,” said Chelsea Consalo, executive vice president. The expansion at company headquarters centrally located in Vineland, NJ will feature additional cold storage space, additional packing areas, and more. This allows us to continue doing what we do best - providing quality product and customer service with no exception.”
The Consalos have a long history in New Jersey, beginning in 1927, and have been long recognized in the area for their values of trust, ethics, and family commitment.
Soon, many of the family will be heading to Montreal for CPMA as a returning sponsor.
“I will be attending along with my brother Anthony, my sister Sarah, and my dad Skip,” Chelsea Consalo said. “We recently attended SEPC’s Southern Exposure together and nothing compares to attending as a family. We are excited to attend CPMA together.”
CPMA is an important show for the company because many of its retailers are in Canada.
“My grandfather developed relationships in the area in the 1920s, so we have been doing business there for about 100 years,” Consalo said. “Our family is so proud to distribute our brand not only in the U.S., but internationally.”
The company has seen continued success of its top seal blueberries, especially in Canada, and is excited to be introducing a new design on its label for 2022.
“It’s important to catch a consumer’s attention with branding, so I’m excited to be showcasing something bright and fun for 2022,” Consalo said. “The Fresh Wave has a long history of upholding continuity of supply in the blueberry category. This has been key to maintaining retail relationships in Canada and elsewhere.”
“Our top seal berries are peel and reseal which is attractive to families. Grab and go to the beach, the park, in the car, and really anywhere,” Consalo said. “Positive responses from shoppers have been ongoing. Interest in larger pack sizes has also been a focus, and it is becoming a consumer demand.”
The Fresh Wave and Consalo Family Farms are also proud to introduce Charlie Cade and Michael Giordano to their sales and procurement team.
“Both come with a background in sales and will be tremendous assets to the company,” Consalo said. “Charlie, 27, and Michael, 22, are fitting right in. The Fresh Wave and Consalo Family Farms are fostering an environment of young people in agriculture with new ideas. As we continue to grow, the new ideas that Charlie and Mike are bringing are indispensable.”
