Unity Groves excited to showcase its main products at Southern Exposure
Louie Carricarte, president and owner of Homestead, FL-based Unity Groves Corp., said he is excited to meet with new and existing customers during the Southeast Produce Council’s 2016 Southern Exposure conference and expo on March 3-5 in Hollywood, FL.
“We will be showcasing the main products that are in season, such as dragon fruit, mamey, sapodilla, longans, papaya, snow peas, sugar snaps, baby vegetables, okra, avocado, guava, starfruit, sugarcane, limes, coconuts, ugli fruit, passion fruit and probably several other tropical items,” he told The Produce News.
The company will be exhibiting at booth No. 512. Although this will be Unity Groves first time exhibiting at the show, Fresh King, which was acquired by Unity in 2015, has exhibited for years, according to Carricarte.
In addition to showcasing the company’s new products and meeting with customers, Carricarte said he’s also looking forward to seeing new ideas from other vendors and his competition, adding that the equal booth size amongst exhibitors makes the expo feel that much more personal.
Another added perk about the 2016 Southern Exposure show, noted Carricarte, is it’s location — The Diplomat Resort & Casino in Hollywood, FL.
“It is about an hour from our facility, which makes it very convenient,” he said. “It is also close to Miami, which allows many of our international growers and customers easier accessibility.”
As for other company news, Carricarte mentioned that Unity Groves is expecting to complete its 12,000-square-foot expansion by May, which includes additional packing lines for avocado and dragon fruit, a hydrocooler upgrade, and a cooler for receiving field bins.
