Veg-Fresh Farms expands portfolio, launched Crystal Cove Berry Farms label

Following the recent opening of its new distribution facility and the addition of a long-time fresh berry expert, Veg-Fresh Farms announced the expansion of its business and the launch of the new consumer label, Crystal Cove Berry Farms.

CrystalCove RGB Sourcing strawberries from throughout Mexico and California's fertile berry-growing regions, Crystal Cove Berry Farms will be a valuable and consistent supplier of fresh berries to foodservice and retail starting in the spring of 2015.

Veg-Fresh Farms' long-term relationships with its tomato growers were key to the development of this new program, according to Dino Cancellieri Jr., general partner in Veg-Fresh Farms, which is based in Corona, CA.

"Many of our tomato growers also grow strawberries, and these established connections will allow us to increase efficiencies and add value for both our growers and our customers," Cancellieri said in a press release. "We are excited to continue providing top-quality products backed by Veg-Fresh service to our customers throughout the industry."

Leading the new category will be industry veteran Steve Circle, who brings more than 20 years of experience to the Veg-Fresh team.

The new brand and product line will be shipped from third-party cold storages in all major growing regions and distributed from Veg-Fresh Farm's 189,000-square-foot facility in Corona, CA. The distribution center opened in February and features 28 shipping and receiving docks and seven cooling rooms with distinct temperate environments to best accommodate the wide variety of fresh products that Veg-Fresh Farms handles.

"Our new facility has been designed to not only serve current customer needs, but also grow with our customers by providing the technologies and logistics required to handle the future of fresh food distribution," Cancellieri added in the press release.

USDA restricts seven PACA violators
