United and SPC to partner on regional 'Educational Road Show'
The United Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Association and the Southeast Produce Council announced that they will join forces in a series of regional educational programs for their members.
The SPC is rolling out its new "Educational Road Show" program developed in partnership with United to reach out to the organizations' members in various cities throughout the Southeast. United will work with SPC to develop quality education programs and bring in expert speakers.
The Educational Road Show is designed to give SPC and United members throughout the supply chain the opportunity to stay informed on the latest regional and national produce issues.
Uniteds industry expertise and key connections at the national level, added to SPCs regional contacts and knowledge of local issues, make this partnership a perfect match, Terry Vorhees, executive director of the SPC, said in a statement. The SPC is a grassroots organization, and providing our members with educational programs has and will remain a top priority. We are very pleased and excited about this partnership with United as a key opportunity to increase our educational offerings.
We think this is a win-win for both organizations members, said Tom Stenzel, president and CEO of United. The partnership with SPC will allow us to extend the value of Uniteds current educational programs and annual convention by offering a year-around competitive advantage to UFFVA and SPC members alike.
The first Educational Road Show event will be held March 4 in conjunction with SPCs annual expo in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
Additional Educational Road Show events will take place on June 2 in Atlanta, Aug. 18 in Colombia, SC, and Sept. 29 at the SPCs fall conference, which will be held at the Brasstown Valley Resort in Young Harris, GA.
The educational topics at each event will be specific to the regional membership and timely issues.
Weve surveyed members and asked them to help identify the topics they are most interested in, said Mr. Vorhees. Using Uniteds expertise in produce education, well build our programs based on the feedback that members provide so that the topics are relevant to their businesses.
Victoria Kuhns, Uniteds vice president of education, commented that this type of targeted, regional education complements Uniteds national education programs. Were very much looking forward to working with the Southeast Produce Council and other regional groups on this type of regional educational program.
