TropiFresh elevates mango category with Mango de Azúcar
In a category often driven by price and volume, TropiFresh is taking a different approach by introducing a product designed to redefine consumer expectations.
“The market doesn’t need just another mango,” said Mateo Sanchez, managing director of TropiFresh, “it needs the Mango de Azúcar.”
Grown in Colombia in the fertile region surrounding Santa Marta, this unique variety stands apart for its compact size, smooth pulp and exceptional sweetness, reaching up to 18 degrees Brix. The result is a premium eating experience that delivers both convenience and flavor, positioning the Mango de Azúcar as an ideal on-the-go snack.
More than a product, TropiFresh sees the variety as an opportunity to bring a new level of differentiation to the global mango category.
Building a scalable export program
TropiFresh has developed the infrastructure to support Mango de Azúcar at scale, making it the only company in Colombia currently positioned to commercialize the variety at an industrial export level.
With a daily capacity of up to six containers, the company exported more than 200,000 kilograms in 2025 and expects significant growth in 2026. The program is already supplying key markets, including the United States, Canada and Europe.
“At TropiFresh, we are ready to bring this hidden gem to the global stage,” said Sanchez.
A key component of the program’s success lies in TropiFresh’s integrated model. The company operates its own farms while also partnering with allied growers under a shared-value approach, ensuring both quality control and supply continuity.
Operations are supported by internationally recognized certifications, including GlobalGAP, GRASP, HACCP and BASC, reinforcing standards in food safety, traceability and responsible production.
This structure allows TropiFresh to deliver consistent quality while scaling production to meet growing international demand.
For importers and distributors, Mango de Azúcar represents more than an incremental addition, it offers a point of differentiation in a competitive category.
“We don’t just offer volume, we provide structured harvest programs and planning to ensure steady supply,” Sanchez noted.
In a marketplace where many mango programs compete primarily on price, TropiFresh is positioning Mango de Azúcar as a premium alternative centered on flavor, experience and reliability.
“When people taste a Mango de Azúcar, they aren’t just eating fruit, they are experiencing something unique,” said Sanchez.
Redefining the mango category
As global demand for high-quality, differentiated fruit continues to rise, TropiFresh believes Mango de Azúcar is well-positioned to capture attention across retail and foodservice channels.
“To elevate the mango market, we must offer something truly extraordinary,” Sanchez said.
With its distinctive profile, scalable supply and integrated production model, Mango de Azúcar is emerging not just as another variety but as a potential category disruptor.
