Tricar ready to begin a more traditional spring
Rio Rico, AZ — “In town, in general, there will be a lot of volume later than normal. We will have big numbers in late April,” predicted Rod Sbragia, director of sales and marketing for Tricar Sales Inc. In typical springs, most Nogales distributors begin tapering off volume at that time, he added. “The start of this deal is completely atypical. This is my 30th year on a [sales] desk. I have never seen a year like this.”
Like others in the Nogales deal, Sbragia has observed that “there was no one defined event” that created the crop disruption this year. Instead, it was a cumulative problem of cold and rain over a period of weeks.
The product mix for Tricar this spring remain largely as it has traditionally been. Cucumbers, Romas, four colors of Bell peppers, European cukes, and yellow, Italian, acorn, butternut, straight and Kabocha squash are key items on Tricar’s menu.
