TexaSweet names new executive director
TexaSweet Citrus Marketing Inc., based in Mission, TX, announced the promotion of Eleisha Ensign to executive director. Ms. Ensign has been with the organization for two years as the marketing coordinator and replaces Lucy Garcia, who resigned to take a position with Imagination Farms LLC in Indianapolis.
Ms. Ensign's creative contributions to TexaSweet over the last two years have been invaluable in building a full marketing campaign for the Texas citrus industry. The campaign has helped to rebrand Texas citrus in both the consumer and retail arenas. Some of her accomplishments have been organizing and attending a wide array of consumer outreach events and promoting Texas citrus through an innovative e-newsletter initiative.
In a statement, Richard Walsh, president of TexaSweet, said, "Eleisha has held the position as marketing coordinator for two years and understands the direction that the board would like to move the Texas industry. TexaSweet has always preferred to hire from within and is very happy with the job she has been doing and thinks she has the knowledge and experience to step up to this position."
In addition to her time at TexaSweet, Ms. Ensign brings sales and marketing experience gained as an account representative with Border Media Partners, a McAllen, TX- based radio station group. Prior to her employment with BMP, she was a full-time student and worked as a legal secretary.
Bob Smith, TexaSweet executive board member and citrus grower, added, "I feel that we are extremely fortunate to be able to promote Eleisha to the executive director's position here at TexaSweet. She is supremely qualified, but most importantly, she has that critical intangible: enthusiasm for both our product and the work."
"This season we launched an innovative marketing campaign, and it was a very exciting and successful endeavor," said Ms. Ensign. "I am confident that my staff and I will continue this momentum next season. As a premier commodity board, TexaSweet is a valuable resource for the industry and consumers alike, and I am excited by the opportunity to lead an organization with such an important impact."
Ms. Ensign is a native of southeast Texas and is a graduate of Lamar University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in marketing.
