SunFed promoting creative brand while expanding lines
Dynamic, creative marketing remains the mode of operation at SunFed Produce, LLC.
Driven by the colorful and fun creative work of Brett Burdsal, director of marketing, SunFed is making the most of its “Perfect Produce” marketing theme.
At October’s PMA Fresh Summit in Atlanta, SunFed debuted its year-round “Perfect Limes” as its inaugural entry into tropical produce.
Matt Mandel, the firm’s chief operating officer, said a very small volume of lime shipments began in July. “The trials are going well,” he said in November.
In Nov. 2014, Matt Mandel and Brett Burdsal hold ‘Perfect Eggplant,’ which is branding promotion of SunFed Produce, LLC. The ‘Perfect Eggplant’ toy held by Burdsal was conceptualized by him as a takeoff on Mr. Potato Head. The company said that limes are “a natural progression for SunFed, and support the company’s traditional line of products” that include “Perfect Squash,” “Perfect Peppers,” “Perfect Cucumbers,” “Perfect Eggplants,” “Perfect Romas” and “Perfect Organics.”
SunFed is also introducing its “Melonheads” organic and conventional seedless watermelon program.
In Atlanta, SunFed revealed a commercial-trial “Yum Melon” program. Packed in SunFed’s two-count mesh bag, the “Yum Melon” was originally grown in the South of France. It is high in flavor, aroma, has a distinct sweetness and delivers a consistent melon.
Mandel said SunFed would begin shipping mini-bell peppers in one- and two-pound high-graphic pouch bags on Nov. 20.
“We saw the opportunity to complement our already-strong bell pepper program,” he said.
SunFed is conducting production trials, “trying to find the right variety of elongated sweet peppers.”
Mandel said SunFed has always been involved in tomatoes “in a small way,” but is now offering an expanded tomato line.
SunFed plans to ship this season conventional and organic Roma and grape tomatoes, as well as Beefsteak.
