Second 'Diamond of Fruit' promotion staged by Sage Fruit Co.
For the second consecutive year, Sage Fruit Co. has used the catchy "Diamond of Fruit" tag for Northwest cherries for a diamond giveaway in the greater Kansas City area.
Sage, with growing operations in Washington state and sales and marketing offices strategically positioned across the country, is headed by Chuck Sinks, president, who was on hand July 30 for the culmination of the promotion, which was held at 21 Kansas City-area Price Chopper stores.
Each Price Chopper in the metro area had Sage Fruit Co. Diamond of Fruit point-of-purchase materials that provided contest entry forms to win a pair of $2,500 diamond earrings.
Each store selected one winner to be represented in the July 30 contest held at the Mission Road Price Chopper. At the store, each of the 21 winners reached into a bowl that contained a single real diamond and 20 cubic zirconium diamonds. After each contestant had chosen his or her diamond, a jeweler used his loupe to determine who held the genuine diamond.
The winner, Laura Crandall of Kansas City, MO, was awarded diamond earrings on the spot.
It made for a very exciting afternoon, Mr. Sinks said, adding that Price Chopper greeted each contestant with cherry pie and a glass of cherry lemonade to go along with the theme of the event.
