Sean Villa and others get promotions at Great West
Sean Villa, son of Great West Produce Inc. owner Paul Villa, who has been working for the family business for about six years, has been named vice president of the Commerce, CA-based company. He also continues in sales, according to Paul Villa.
Sean Villa's new title of vice president is part of "a process," Paul Villa said. "He is taking on more and more as time goes on. ... Eventually, he will be running [the company] and I will be calling him to see how things are going," but that will be several years "down the road," he said.
Ben Heck, who was previously sales coordinator at Great West and has been phasing into sales, has now been officially promoted to sales, effective Aug. 1, and has been "handling the melon deal," Mr. Villa said. Mr. Heck, who joined Great West a little over a year ago, is the son of Brad Heck, one of "several senior sales guys here," who has been with the company for some 18 years. "Brad is helping coach [Ben], and it is working out real well," he said.
Dan Sims, who has been working with Great West as a consultant, is also now on board, doing sales and working on special projects, Mr. Villa said. Mr. Sims was a partner in Westlake-Miller/Brooks & Sims in Los Angeles, now known as Westlake Produce Co. He retired from Westlake in 2005.
