Sandy Watts joins Progreso Produce
Progreso Produce in Boerne, TX, a leading grower-shipper in the Texas/ Mexico import corridor, has hired Sandy Watts as its new general manager.
Mr. Watts comes to Progreso with 25 years of experience in the produce industry, having worked in both Florida and Texas with direct experience in citrus, melons and Mexican imports.
Curtis DeBerry, president of Progreso Produce, said of Mr. Watts' hiring, "Sandy's experience in management, sales and grower relations is a perfect fit for our business. His produce history allows him to jump right in and lead our organization, challenging us to make changes and helping us to commit to them."
In addition to changes in staff, Progreso Produce has made changes to its physical locations. Progreso has moved its sales office to Boerne, TX, just north of San Antonio, while maintaining two food-safety-certified warehouse locations in south Texas for both dry and wet produce.
"The move to the San Antonio metro area was a strategic choice that allowed us to be closer to many of our Texas customers, while providing additional recruitment opportunities for new sales staff as our business grows," Mr. DeBerry said in a press release.
Finally, as a service to its customers, Progreso added a new web site to its list of communication tools.
The site, www.progresoproduce.com, focuses on promoting the brands the firm packs and represents: "Southern Exposure" and "Disney Garden." In addition, the site provides information on core items including watermelons and onions, and lists information on growing and sourcing regions, and food safety protocol. The web site acts as a quick reference for information about Progreso Produce's item assortment and services.
