Produce tools on a calendar schedule
A line of produce gadgets called Good Cook ProFreshionals, from kitchenware leader Bradshaw International, based in Rancho Cucamonga, CA, has been set up on a year-round calendar system to get the appropriate produce tool into supermarkets at the right time — and in front of the right produce bin.
With the aid of portable hanging merchandisers designed to hook directly onto gaylords and bins, Good Cook ProFreshionals aims to get product where and when it is needed most by consumers, while being sensitive to space limitations in the produce department.
Early indicators show that its inaugural item — a peach slicer that efficiently handles the difficult task of dividing peaches — is being well received by some major distributors and retailers, such as Associated Foods, Wakefern, Spartan, Giant Eagle and Valu Merchandisers.
The plan by Bradshaw is to have at least 14 different produce tools and hook displays available for placement throughout the year, each with a specialty tool designed to prep popular fruits and vegetables exactly in season at the time.
